Conducir agua para regar cultivos es una actividad casi tan antigua como la agricultura. En Mesoamérica hay evidencias de obras de riego de dos mil 750 años de antigüedad.
Si bien el riego es antiquísimo, el uso masivo de agua es relativamente reciente. Aproximadamente 78 por ciento del total de agua en el país se gasta en actividades agropecuarias y buena parte se desperdicia de manera escandalosa.
En los Valles Centrales se usan para riego agrícola unos mil litros de agua por segundo, sin embargo, la producción es cada vez más baja. Además, el agua con que contamos disminuye día a día y es necesario buscar opciones para conservar las fuentes y mejorar la producción sin desperdiciar el agua.
UNA OPCIÓN
El Instituto de la Naturaleza y la Sociedad de Oaxaca, en colaboración con varias fundaciones, pone al alcance de los productores invernaderos y sistemas de riego eficientes, de bajo costo y larga duración, construidos con materiales de calidad y tecnologías alternativas. Proporcionamos también asesoría y capacitación para aprovechar al máximo las ventajas de estos equipos, así como para captar y almacenar agua y conservar sus fuentes.
TRES MODELOS DE INVERNADEROS
Nuestros invernaderos se adaptan fácilmente a las necesidades particulares del productor y a cualquier tipo de cultivo. Se entregan con un sistema de riego completamente instalado.
Invernadero de madera
Por ser construido con materiales locales que se pueden obtener con facilidad es el más barato y su mantenimiento es más sencillo. La madera es tratada para que tenga mayor duración.
Invernadero de PVC
La estructura de este modelo se realiza con tubos de PVC y madera. Esto lo hace muy resistente, ligero y de bajo costo.
Invernadero metálico
Es el más parecido a los invernaderos convencionales, pero su costo es mucho menor que estos. Tiene estructura de perfil tubular reforzado (PTR), por lo que es más resistente y rápido de instalar.
Los modelos que llevan madera deben recibir mantenimiento anualmente. La cubierta tiene una duración de tres años.
SISTEMAS DE RIEGO
Nuestros sistemas funcionan a presión, hacen el riego más fácil y eficiente y ahorran agua. Pueden ser portátiles, en particular los de aspersión y microaspersión.
Riego por goteo
Funciona por gravedad. Suministra a la planta pequeñas cantidades de agua, gota a gota, a intervalos regulares. Es especialmente útil para hortalizas, tanto en invernadero, como en línea.
Riego por microaspersión
El agua se aplica al cultivo como lluvia muy fina que se distribuye uniformemente. Permite regar debajo de las copas de las plantas y que la humedad llegue a las raíces. Es adecuado para árboles, milpa y otros cultivos.
Riego por aspersión
Es semejante al anterior, pero de mayor alcance. Cada aspersor arroja agua de manera uniforme en un círculo continuo hasta que la humedad llega a las raíces del cultivo.

Save water and live better!
Directing water in order to irrigate crops is an activity that is almost as old as agriculture itself. In Mesoamerica there is evidence of systems of irrigation 2,750 years old.
Although irrigation is ancient, massive water use is relatively recent. Approximately 78 percent of the total water in the country is used for agricultural activities and a large portion is wasted outrageously.
In the Central Valleys, a thousand liters of water are used per second for agricultural irrigation; however, production is increasingly low. In addition, the amount of water that we have diminishes with each passing day, and we need to look for alternatives in order to preserve the sources and improve production without wasting water.
A CHOICE
The Institute of Nature and Society of Oaxaca, in collaboration with various foundations, makes low-cost, long-lasting greenhouses and systems of efficient irrigation available to producers. These are built with quality materials and alternative technologies. We also provide advice and training to maximize the benefits of this equipment, as well as to capture and store water and preserve its sources.
THREE GREENHOUSE MODELS
Our greenhouses can be adapted easily to the particular needs of the producer and to any type of crop. They are delivered with an irrigation system fully installed.
Wooden greenhouse
Built with local materials that can easily be obtained, this is the least expensive method and its maintenance is simpler. The wood is treated so that it lasts longer.
PVC greenhouse
The structure of this model is achieved with PVC pipes and wood. This makes it very tough, lightweight and inexpensive.
Metal Greenhouse
This is the most similar to the conventional greenhouse, but is of a much lower cost. It has a reinforced, tubular, profile structure (PTR), which makes it more resistant and quicker to install.
The wood-containing models should receive annual maintenance. The cover lasts approximately three years.
IRRIGATION SYSTEMS
Our systems operate due to pressure, making irrigation easier and more efficient and saving water. They can be portable, particularly the sprinklers and microasperators.
Drip Irrigation
It works due to gravity. It supplies the plant with small quantities of water, dropwise, at regular intervals. It is especially useful for vegetables, both in the greenhouse and in line.
Micro sprinkler irrigation
Water is applied to the crop as a mist and is evenly distributed. It permits irrigation below the tops of the plants and allows for moisture to reach the roots. It is suitable for trees, corn, and other crops.
Sprinkler irrigation
It is similar to the previous system, but has greater reach. Each sprinkler aspirates water evenly, in a continuous circle, until the moisture reaches the roots of the plants.
